About the Author:

Lieutenant General Covault served at the direct, operational and strategic levels during a thirty-two year career.  Two combat tours in Vietnam, as a young officer, taught practical lessons in how to handle crises and motivate people.

While advising the U.S. Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific on strategic policy, Covault traveled extensively throughout the Pacific Rim.  Duty in Germany, Panama and Italy rounded out a wealth of international experience.  Furthermore, he presided over a five-nation staff planning for and conducting operations in Bosnia.

Since retiring from the U.S. Army, Covault has provided commentary on breaking world events for CNN; testified before the United States Congress on issues of National Security; coached scientists and engineers at Johns Hopkins University; been assigned to serve the Secretary of Defense as a member of his Science Board to consider the future of warfare; mentored joint task force senior military leaders; spoken publicly and prepared papers on subjects ranging from leadership to current national issues; and provided leadership seminars to corporations and governmental organizations around the world.

Covault holds a masters degree in Public Administration, is the author of Vision to Execution:  A Book for leaders and is currently a columnist for the Opinion Page of The Pilot, Southern Pines, NC.
